Our client seeks a Specialist Training and Governance to be responsible for the research, drafting, management and presentation of all training programs for the security department and security service contractors. The Specialist will ensure that security service providers meet the training standards as required by an SLA and other sector prerequisites. The postholder will be responsible to develop and execute programs and audits to ensure robust governance within the department and compliance with policies and procedures; a key focus will be continual improvement.
The role will be responsible for the development of learning deliverables supporting the security awareness and training program.

  • Ensuring that all activities are carried out in accordance with legislation and Security policies and procedures.
  • Apply the ISO framework to the Security Operations Management system.
  • Providing specialist advice and guidance to team members to ensure that responses are delivered within appropriate policies and legislation and achieve the best possible outcomes.
  • Ensuring compliance of applicable policies and regulations.
  • Ensuring that strict confidentiality is maintained regarding all activities within the Security Department.
  • Support and participate in the training and development requirements of employees especially in terms of new systems and work practices.
  • Regularly audit crime investigation systems.
  • Conducts surveys and audits to evaluate system effectiveness.
  • Draft all Security related policies and procedures.
  • Design and deliver Security-related training for key stakeholders.
  • Research, draft, manage and present all training programs for the security department and security service contractors.
  • Ensure that security service providers meet the training standards as required by an SLA and other sector prerequisites.
  • Draft, executive and measure the results of annual training programs for both in-house and contracted staff employed within the Security Department.
  • Manage the documentation process for Security policies and procedures.
The Person
  • Minimum of 5 years working experience in an investigative function within the security or policing environment. Experience within a mining environment would be beneficial.
  • Minimum of 3 years of leadership experience leading investigative teams in policing, security and protection services.
  • Private Security Regulatory Authority (PSIRA) as Grade "A" Security Practitioner.
  • Strong fluency with MS Office.
  • Proven track record in developing policies, procedures, and SOPs.
  • Good understanding of security management statutory obligations, requirements, and dynamics.
  • Working knowledge of the Firearm Act and Firearm competency for Business Purposes.
  • Experience in a training environment within a private or public security organisation is essential.
  • Experience and a qualification in an ISO standard would be beneficial.
  • Grade 12 & formal post-school educational qualification in training.
  • Driver’s license.
  • Must be SA Passport Holder.
