Our client is an iconic and successful organisation who offer a market leading range of products and services both within the UK and internationally.

As Security Controller you will be responsible for maintaining and developing the security function, an area which is crucial to the success of the business. You will be responsible for managing a security team that provides 24/7 cover to the company's sites meeting standards set out by the Security Policy Framework/ GovS007.

Responsibilities include:
Ensuring the function meets the standards of the Security Policy Framework/GovS007.
Providing leadership and mentoring to an experienced team of security officers that provide 24/7 cover to multiple sites.
Oversight of security functions such including CCTV, access control, key holders, and fire systems
Ensuring that all relevant personnel have appropriate clearance from UKSV and all personnel pass standard background checks.
Be the custodian of security related materials ensuring the general safety of and security of all company sites and property. This includes maintaining the correct protective marking of all materials and instructing on their availability and use.
Be the subject matter expert for security related matters and maintain an attitude of continuous learning and development.

Key Skills and Attributes:

Ability to handle security material effectively, ideally including cryptographic material.
Understanding of the Official Secrets act and GDPR guidelines are essential.
Leadership in and the ability to react to pressured situations
Effective management of a team.
Communicate effectively among stakeholders at different levels of the business to both educate them on security matters but also to persuade them of any changes required.
A positive attitude & enthusiastic to work in growing company
Proactive with strong attention to detail with the ability to use a forensic approach to any security related matter.
Once established in the role confident to work autonomously
Ability to travel internationally on occasion for your role.


Candidate background:

Experience in a defence industry/ MoD security controller role
Experience as a supervisor or above in a security team.
Recent List X/ FSC site security experience
Security Policy Framework experience for a minimum of three years.
A security management qualification or SIA license.
Further relevant qualifications such as a Higher National Diploma or Bachelors degree would be desirable but is not essential.
Security industry membership

This is a full-time (40 hours) role requiring such commitment as is necessary to provide effective management of outputs.
Core business hours are 08:30 to 17:00 Monday to Friday
The company operates a flexible start time and may allow periods of hybrid or remote working in accordance with company policies and subject to the needs of the business.
